A Service for a Service

On this installment of @yamahamusicusa #silentbass and @laklandbasses Friday, we will discuss "A Service for a Service". We all know prices are up and gigs are down. Gig pay is either stagnant or lower. We all have to figure out ways to get by. One of those may be to have maintenance and/or repairs or some service done by a friend or colleague instead of a store, "repair guy" or other professional. That's great! IMO, as it helps you and the community by helping itself. However, just because u have a "private individual" doing work for you, it doesn't mean u can necessarily "get away cheap". Remember that person is having the same hardships u are and is probably doing this work to help make ends meet. "Asking for favors " doesn't help them. So, the "how" this week is...PAY THEM A COMPETITIVE RATE FOR THE WORK!!!! It need not be "top dollar ", but it should be commensurate with the work or service being done. Work the price out ahead of time so there are not any surprises and u can make sure u are both in agreement. U are having work or a service done by someone you know (and trust), so compensate them accordingly. If $$$ is an issue, maybe work out a "barter" deal..but one that is comparable and beneficial to both of u. U dig? All of this comes under respect for ourselves, our colleagues and the community, and goes a long way to helping all of us. As always, I invite your insights. #yamahamusicusa #makewaves #pirastro #glasserny #laklandbasses #sitstrings #tsunamicables #philjonesbass #uptonbassstringinstrumentcompany #basslessons #remotelessons #www.charleysabatino.com.
