On this installment of @yamahamusicusa #silentbass and @laklandbasses Friday, we will discuss "Best Lists". You see them all over the internet and they can lead to some heated debates. The truth here, is they are all opinions, not necessarily facts. My favorite quote is from Dave Weckl. He was performing at the Yamaha room at NAMM a few years ago. He was introduced as the best drunmer according to something. Right after his intro, he stopped and said, "....stop it, I hate those titles, we are a community,  not a competition....". Wise words. So, what do we do? Make ur lists! They are important. They help define us. BUT...start to research other lists! Classical, Latin, metal, rock,  jazz, world, etc! How about studio players from NY, LA, Motown, Muscle Shoals. There are some amazing players in your area...worker bees. Killing it every day right under ur nose! U will find amazing players spanning hundreds of years and all over the world. This should not necessarily change ur list, but it may expand your horizon. Take ur list(s) and compare them with friends, band mates and colleagues.  Use them for friendly discourse. You will be amazed how it will expand ur universe. As always, I invite your insights. #yamahamusicusa #makewaves #pirastro #glasserny #laklandbasses #sitstrings #tsunamicables #philjonesbass #uptonbassstringinstrumentcompany #basslessons  #remotelessons #www.charleysabatino.com.
