On this "Happy New Year" installment of @yamahamusicusa #silentbass and @laklandbasses Friday, we talk "goals". This is something we should ALL think about in all aspects of our lives, and not just this time of year. Of course, I talking about shed goals here. Ok, but why? Well, goals give you a direction, a way to pinpoint areas of work and a way to measure progress. I can't tell you how many times I hear from students that they are in a rut and play the same 5 things. Well, by making goals, you have a way to dig urself out! Understand, these not be lofty goals, but they could! They are areas, concept or skills you want to learn or improve. Goals are living and adapt to changes in life and desires. In addition, meeting a goal is not necessarily a measure of success. It is what u learn along the way! I heard  a fitness professional say that sometimes you have to say goodbye to a goal for a new one. This is not failure! It's EVOLUTION! Life paths are not always linear. You have to see where the journey leads you. This is me in 2026! Amazing musician Ivan passed a quote onto me years ago, "..u go thru the door that's open.." Goals are one of the things that allow you to walk thru that door! I have tried to live this in my own life and have stressed into countless students. U dig?  So, plant ur goals...write them out! Share them with colleagues and maybe get input. U can start with lofty goals and break them down, or keep them more short term. As long as u make them! The next step is to gather the resources u need to meet the goals and build a plan of attack. Then have at it! Remember to reevaluate as u go to make sure ur on track. Goals are powerful! Give them a try! As always, I invite your insights. #yamahamusicusa #makewaves #pirastro #glasserny #laklandbasses #sitstrings #tsunamicables #philjonesbass #uptonbassstringinstrumentcompany #basslessons  #remotelessons #www.charleysabatino.com
